JOLLY JUMBUCK – EVENT BRIEF
***State Equestrian Centre is private property – course access is only available on event day. If you’re looking to complete a virtual run or re-run the Jolly Jumbuck course, you’ll need to access the course from Bells Rapids Car Park***
Everything you need to have an awesome day is here! 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Welcome to the Winter Series Event #3 Jolly Jumbuck!
Trail running often takes us on journeys, and this one takes you up Jumbuck Hill! Which reminded us of the classic song, where a jolly swagman is camping by a billabong. You may just run past one of these too! A song where this swagman puts a jolly jumbuck in his tuckerbag! I’m sure you’re onto it now… The only thing that made sense was to invite you to come a’waltzing with us! 🐑🐏🐑
Read on for all the essentials you need for event day!
DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
Parking is limited – please connect with your fellow trail runners and organise carpooling in our Perth Trail Series (social group)
Directions: Enter ‘State Equestrian Centre 303 Cathedral Avenue Brigadoon WA’ into your GPS device / Google Maps.
Parking: Once you’ve turned into the Centre please drive past the bitumen parking area and follow the driveway along the right hand side of the building. PTS Crew will be waiting on the driveway to direct you into our parking area. Please park nice and tight so there’s enough room for everyone.
- Your Hydration System Your system is a handheld bottle, or waist belt, or pack that holds a minimum of 500ml. All participants (yes, every course distance) MUST present their hydration system at Check-In to receive their bib. So save a walk back to the car and make sure you have your hydration with you at Check In / Bib Collection!
What Not to Bring:
- Hiking poles. They aren’t permitted on course at our events
We Highly Recommend You:
- Get the Course Map ready for event day
- Install the Emergency+ App on your mobile phone
- Bring cash or card for pre-race coffee and post race food/drinks
- Visit the Merch tent for awesome PTS Gear – Shirts, Buffs, Hats, Race Dots and more!
We have A LOT of people out at our events so please take note of the key info and important times for your course colour to ensure a fun filled morning! To check in and collect your bib please head to the tent that matches your course colour. Remember – your bib must be worn on the front and visible at all times.

Winter Series 4 Pass Package Holders
We’re counting on you to help out the Woohoo Crew. Please wear your Winter Series PTS Wristband to every event of the Winter Series. You’ll receive your unique finisher MegaMedal at Event #4 Truth or Consequences. Woohoo!
First Time to PTS?
To help the environment we do not use paper cups or plastic bottles at our events. You will need to use your PTS collapsible silicone cup to access water at Top Up Stops and the Start/Finish area. If it’s your first event let the PTS Crew know at Check In and Bib Collection to receive your PTS collapsible cup.
Please Remove The Headphones!
We strongly encourage you to remove the headphones today. There’s a lot of other users of the trail – hikers, horses, mountain bikes. Removing the headphones means you are aware of your surroundings.

Because we’re a big trail community we wait until the majority of participants finish for each course before presenting awards. We love when you hang out and enjoy the vibe at the Finish. Relax and have a chat while you refuel with food/coffee/drinks available at the Food Trucks.
We’ll have some fun games, spot prizes and announce all the giveaways. But you’ve gotta stick around to win and cheer on your fellow trail runners!
Course Map
We provide course markings the whole way to help you stay on track! Our blue flagging tape in trees and PTS arrows guide you around the course, and we expect you to follow the course markings at all times. Registered participants will receive the Event Brief email (with a downloadable Course Map) the Wednesday prior to event day.

*Actual race day course may change – always follow course flagging on the day
Trail Etiquette When Encountering Other Park Users: This is a very popular and highly visited park – please be mindful of other park users. Most people are there to hang out and appreciate nature, just like us!
When running on the bridge – please be mindful of others. We don’t own the bridge and can’t expect/charge at people to get out of the way. Politely pass and say hello. To make sure you’re aware of others please no headphones from the Start Line to when you’re off the bridge, and from the bridge until the Finish Gantry.
Yield to horses on the shared use trail in the first/last 2km of the course. Make eye contact with the rider and talk softly so the horse knows you’re human. Ask the rider if you should walk, or if they would like to pass.
Black Course and Blue Course runners may meet up at the Jumbuck hill single track – slower runners please move to the side to let faster runners pass.
Drop Down Option: If you are running the Black course, and you’d like to drop down to the Blue course, this is ok! Yes, it is! We even encourage it – PTS events are all about having FUN! You’ll simply follow the Blue Arrow at the course intersection. If you’re with the Sweep, just let them know, “I’m dropping down!”
We base our times around a 10min pace. We know it can take longer on steep bits! But don’t worry – you don’t have to stare at your watch (or be stressed out) during your run. If you find you’re walking more than you’re running, drop down and truly enjoy your time on course! At key intersections a Woohoo Crew member (our awesome vollies) may direct you to follow the path of Blue arrows. If this happens, say thank you! The Woohoo Crew are following instructions and excited to encourage you along the trails!
If you are running the Blue Course, and you’d like to drop down to Green, this is ok too! All of our courses are designed in a way that you can Drop Down.
If you drop down, please remember to follow the correct course markings back to the finish – and let our Timing Crew know (located at the Orange Tent next to the Finish Line Gantry).
Some Rules To Remember
- Disqualification (DQ) if caught littering or short-cutting/cheating.
- Minimum 500mL hydration must be carried for the duration of the event and it’s a DQ if you’re caught without it. If you want to run without hydration there are great footpaths in the city 😉
- Bibs cannot be given to someone else to participate on your behalf – your bib, your identity. If you did not enter this event, you aren’t allowed to run the course on the day. This is called “ghosting” and will result in being refused entry to future PTS events.
- We highly discourage headphone use at this event – it is a risk to your safety.
- Woohoo and have fun while on course, keeping in mind that trail etiquette is key at all PTS events. Look after each other out there!
Woohoo – thanks for coming out for Jolly Jumbuck!
