Course Description

Aid Station

 

Periodically, or one might even say randomly, we host these morning or afternoon courses.

The approximately 3 hour course covers the essentials of trail running techniques - flat, single track, ascents, and descents. Participants are welcome to ask questions about trail gear, nutrition, and the like throughout the session. Basic but essential strength exercises for trail runners are also covered.

You should expect to run no more than 10km over the session. Each course is limited to 15 people.

Your instructor is Bernadette Benson. Bernadette is an elite level ultra runner who has represented Canada and Australia at Commonwealth Championships, World 24hr Championship events, as well as at the World Trail Championships. Bernadette has raced competitively in Canada, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Wales, and Australia. She also just loves to run trails for the pure joy of it.

The venue is typically Wungong Regional Park at the end of Admiral Road, Bedfordale. More detailed directions are available on our Summer Series "QiGongWungong" page. There is no mobile service at this carpark, but there is patchy service within the park.

Start times are posted in the online registration information when courses are open.

Gear: Please wear normal running gear and bring a minimum of 500 ml of fluids (hydration pack, waist belt). You may use a handheld bottle, but it must be a name brand purpose-built bottle with an integrated strap for your hand. That is, you MUST NOTbring a regular bottle of water that you would purchase at a servo. Your hands need to be properly free for trail running.
